From Paddington Station: Walk along Platform 8 about 100 metres and up the right-hand set of steps. Turn right along the walkway following the Paddington Central signs that leads you alongside a towpath with the canal on your right. Before you reach the footbridge over the towpath, turn left between two large buildings.
If you are travelling from the east, exit the A40 after crossing the A5 Edgware Road. This will bring you down onto a large roundabout on Harrow Road. The commitment marks a dramatic reversal of Microsoft''s apparent downbeat attitude towards investment in London after its blockbuster $69 billion Activision merger was held up by the UK competition regulator last year.
At the time, Microsoft president Brad Smith had described the move as "Probably the darkest day in our four decades in Britainit does more than shake our confidence in the future of the opportunity to grow a technology business in Britain than we''ve ever confronted before."
In an interview with the Standard last year, Suleyman was equally downbeat. He said: "I think the truth is London''s lost its confidence. It''s not what it was in the 2000s. And it needs to find back its passion for risk-taking, innovation, and invention.
Microsoft said it plans to "grow rapidly" at the new hub, which will be based at 2 Kingdom Street in the modern Paddington Central office district, situated opposite the global headquarters of Vodafone, which in January signed a 10-year, $1.5 billion deal with the tech giant over AI and cloud services.
